Visiting Mystic Aquarium with Kids

Mystic Aquarium was one of our stops while in Mystic Connecticut that everyone enjoyed. My kids always love visiting Aquariums and learning about the different animals that live in the sea.

We spent a few hours exploring the aquarium learning about different animals, sea life, and the conservation efforts that the aquarium makes. Everything in the Aquarium is kid-friendly, the staff was super nice and helpful anytime one of the kids had questions.

We had a great time on our visit to Mystic Aquarium. With so much to do and see, we think it is a great place to visit when you are in Connecticut.

Our Trip to Mystic Aquarium

Upon entering, we were welcomed by the majestic beluga whales tank, which the aquarium is renowned for. Mystic Aquarium is actively engaged in extensive research on these captivating creatures. The sheer size of the tank is awe-inspiring, and there are numerous vantage points from which you can observe the beluga whales and their trainers.

After watching the Beluga whales we headed to the sting rays area in the courtyard area. One of the kid’s favorites was touching and feeding the stingrays.

We headed to the Main Gallery. There are many opportunities for interacting with sea creatures. One experience is the SHARKS touch habitat where you can touch different species of sharks and rays. After that tank, we went to the next one where you can touch local sea creatures including snails and crabs.

The California sea lion show was next. We headed over to the Foxwoods Marine Theater. The show is entertaining and informative and we all enjoyed it.

We headed outside to see the outdoor exhibits starting with the Marsh trek. Here we saw rescue animals and learned about New England wildlife. You will want to walk thru this area to get to the seal Pup area where you can see them playing.

From there we headed to the Penguin exhibit. We watched the African penguins both in the water and on land. The trainers shared with us their methods of distinguishing between individual penguins.

We walked to the seal and sea lions area. Mystic Aquarium is the only aquarium in the United States to house Steller sea lions. You will also harbor seals, northern fur seals, and spotted seals that call the aquarium home.

Dino Seas

We ended our day at the Dino Seas which offers a range of hands-on experiences that transport visitors through time. From the animatronic undersea creatures and dinosaurs to the exhilarating 4-D movies. Which we all enjoyed going thru and experiencing.

You can go on an immersive expedition through the ancient seas, where colossal reptiles reigned supreme and majestic dinosaurs roamed the land. This captivating journey will transport you back in time, allowing you to witness the awe-inspiring creatures that once ruled our planet.

Brace yourself for an adventure filled with wonder and discovery as you delve into the depths of prehistoric history and explore the captivating world of ancient seas and magnificent dinosaurs. You can add on the Dino Seas adventure to your ticket for an additional cost.
